Nope...onboard nic works as is. Although in your reply, you wrote SH67H7, I have the SH67H3, as does the person who created the thread.

I'm also using the i7-2600 and 16 GB PC3-10666 DDR3 1333 MHz Patriot Memory G2 Series

Hi all,

thanks for sharing your experience. I'm currently planning to use a SH67H7 with 32GB RAM and a Core i7 2600.
Currently there are just 2 types of memory validated for the us of 8GB modules:
DDR3 8GB A-DATA AXDU1333GW8G9-1G
DDR3 8GB Patriot PG38G1333EL

Does anyone have experience about other vendors/models that are also supported on the hardware? I know this is actually not a ESXi related question, but it might also help others who want to use more than the 16GB that are provided by Shuttle.

Thanks and best regards

I think according to the vendor, the H3 and H7 just have a different case, the hardware seems to be the same.

Hi all,

Thanks for this very usefull topic!

I bought a Shuttle SH67H3 and setup ESXI5 (iso: VMWARE-ESXi-5.0.0-Rollup-20110921).
I have an issue with my network card Intel pro 1000 PT Quad port which it isn't recognized by ESXI. The integrated NIC wotk fine!
Do you have any experience with this NIC?

For information:
- I saw that it could be a BIOS problem because the card has a PCIE-4x connector that I put in a PCIE-16x. My BIOS version is 1.07. I crashed my previous SH67H3 after an upgrade to the last available version 1.15: So be VERY CAREFULL if you try to upgrade to the last version. I think, maybe I have to upgrade version by version because I did the upgrade from the initial BIOS version (1.05) to the last version without intermediate update. I will wait the RMA from my other SH67H3 before to do another upgrade! :D

- I try to setup manually the drivers, without success (# esxcli software vib install...) . Maybe I don't use the correct drivers..

Thanks for your help!

Enjoy!

Sorry, I do not know. I would think any 1333Mhz non ecc memory would work, they just haven't tested it

I just recently did a BIOS update but I believe it is 1.14. Prior to and after this update, my Intel Pro PT Dual port card works fine. It is a PCIE x16 though. Sorry

Hi,

Thanks for the reply itsskeemz! You're right, I have tried with BIOS 1.07 and my HP NC364T (PCIE-4X in 16X slot) is recognized.
I saw in other website that the 16X port can only be populated by graphic card in BIOS version < 1.07. Te v 1.07 and above allow the use of other card type (like NIC).
Currently, my Intel Quad port isn't recognized, I will try other tests later, and I will post the result.

Thx!

Hi. I've just put 32GB - 4 x G.Skill RipjawsX 8GB DDR3 PC3-10666 1333mhz Modules (Manf.Code: F3-10666CL9S-8GBXL) - in my SH67H3. They work fine (memtest86+ ran clean).
Here's the memory specs:
System Type: DDR3
M/B Chipset: Intel Z68 / P67 / H61 / H67 Intel P55 / H55 / H57 AMD 7XX / 8XX Series
CAS Latency: 9-9-9-24-2N
Capacity: 8GB (8GBx1)
Speed: DDR3-1333 (PC3 10666)
Test Voltage: 1.5 Volts
Height: 40 mm / 1.58 inch
Registered/Unbuffered: Unbuffered
Error Checking: Non-ECC
Type: 240-pin DIMM

They were cheaper and easier to find than the A-DATA AXDU1333GW8G9-1G or Patriot PG38G1333EL (I'm in the UK).

I've got the "Intel Sandybridge i7-2600 Core i7 Quad-Core Processor (3.40GHz, 8MB Cache, Socket 1155)" in mine, running BIOS 1.15 (but the memory worked OK on 1.07)

Phil.

Hi,

I have been trying to install ESXi 5.0 from USB stick on my shuttle sh67h3 for the last 24 hours I have no hard disk 16gb ram and using the i7 2600 built-in gfx (hd2000)

When booting I get the error

"Multiboot could not setup the graphics subsystem"

Does anyone have any experience of correcting this error?

Many Thanks for any help.

Ade.

Hi Everyone,

I am really considering buying this machine. The only thing that concerns me is that all the vendors say 16GB maximum ram but the 2012 catalog located at shuttle's website advertises this machine as a 32GB maximum. I am looking for a 32GB server for my esxi5 lab. Has anyone been able to successfully install 32GB and was there any tweaks or hacks needed to make it work?
