I dont know if this is the rigth forum, but im experiance some problems with the VMware ESXi 4.1, Windows guest Windows 2008R2 have troubles responding from time to time, i have been all over DNS, ARP problems everything but now i maybe come that conclusion that the problem is related to VMware.
The NIC is somehow going to sleep when idle. And a 3-4 ping requests get it to wake again. if i make a ping ip -t it never going to sleep.
Allow Network sleep and all that is disabled in Windows 2K8R2. And it is not the machine it self that is sleeping just the network card.
The NIC is a VMware supported nic. Intel 82574L.
Where can my problem be?

Re: Network Sleep when server idle
When the problem occurs i have no problems pinging the VMware Host or firewall,
so i think its not related to the physical network adapter, but rather a problem with the virtual network adapter.
