Post Asus P8P67 WS, I7-2600, Adaptec 2805 (ESXi 4.0.1 U1) works
------- My White Box Specs------
    MB : Asus P8P67 WS Revolution P67 B3 Rev i7 i5 i3 LGA1155 DDR3 USB 3.0 PCIE ATX
    CPU: Intel Core i7-2600
    CPU Cooler: CM hyper 212
RAM: Corsair Memory Vengeance 16 Quad Channel Kit DDR3 1600
    16GB (4*4GB) CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9
RAID Card: Adaptec 2805 SAS RAID Controller Serial Attached SCSI PCI Express x8 Plug-in Card 2269600-R
    Storage:1-Four WD RE4 500GB 64mb cache SATA 3GbPS on RAID 0 (excellent I/O performance).
2- Kingstone 4gb for storing ESXi installation.
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 6850 1 GB GDDR5 100315L (Any basic card is enough)
    PSU:Corsair CMPSU-750TX 750-Watt
Case: CM 690 NVIDIA Edition. :D
1- ESXi able to detect only one built in LAN controller:Intel 82547L but Intel 82579 is not.
2- I used two WD Caviar Black 1tb 64mb cache as datastores before installing my RAID card with no problem except I/O performance especialy when starting mutiple VMs.
3- Installing Adaptec RAID card is little bit messy with some delay in booting. Refer to Adaptec KB for work around. The card detected by already installed driver on ESXi.
4- I have around 15 VMs installed with 2048GB RAM dedicated for each one and can run 8 of them at the same time without noticing any performance degredation.
Good luck.
