Post HP DL145 G1 install
Installed on an HP DL145 G1 with 2 AMD 248 Opterons and 2 Gigs of ram Upgraded to 4 gigs but works with 2.

Didnt have a CD rom so I installed to a 2 gig USB stick on a dell 2850. I did this several times for 4 x DL145 G1 that I got off of ebay for 45$ each.. You can still grab them off of there if you want a lab.. they are listing for 59$ buy it now but he gave up 4 of them for 45$ each.. He had like 30 of them..

I moved the USB stick to the DL145 G1 and it booted properly after setting it to boot from the usb drive in the bios.. Both gigabit cards on the server work properly.. One is used for primary vm network and the other is used as an iscsi interface to openfiler 2.3 that is running on my dell 2850 that i did the install off of..

I believe the ATA drives will work for install but have not tried it.. ESXi sees the 40gig drives attached to the controller through storage management so I believe a straight install to hard drive will work but again, I Havent tried for lack of a usb cdrom..

Great test lab that was picked up for 260$ shipping included for 4 servers.. Vmotion and everything works great..

Hi,

Can you run 64bit VM?

It must have VT enabled, does the HP DL145 G1 support that?

Thanks
