I too am trying to get this system working, if you would be willing to share your completed ISO that would be great.
Many thanks, Jeremy

Hi Mar, Ooskay, Jnerpel,
How is your server status? I bought the P7P55D MB yesterday for the VM server and I hit the same problem. Would you mind sharing the oem.tgz file or the forum? This is my first time to touch vm. Thanks so much.

Re: Asus P7P55D Intel P55 ,working with OEM.TGZ mods
Hey Mac, I've got a P7P55D-E board and try as I might I cannot get it to recognise IDE HDD's.
I'll have a look again tonight, but I think maybe it's not recognising the JMicron JMB363 SATA & PATA Controller. I'm not in front of the box now so I can't retrieve class:device id
Can you please make your oem.tgz, or better still complete .iso available?
Thanks!

Re: Asus P7P55D Intel P55 ,working with OEM.TGZ mods
Fixed! Thanks Mac for pointing me in the right direction. Do not try to edit simple file using Windows! Boot up off Knoppix and then edit away changing:197b:2363 0000:0000 storage ahci.o to 197b:2363 0000:0000 storage pata_jmicron.o I alos incluced the driver for my Sil 3124 SATII 4 port. I'll attach oem.tgz soon.

Works perfect for me, with nearly the same components Asus P7P55D I7 860 ... After various painful failures trying to install 4.1 using the various techniques described on vm-help, I finally used version 3.9.5 of Varazir script with 4.0 U1 and the oem.tgz from viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1272, and it worked perfectly. I was a bit ashamed of not managing to do it myself, but it works, so I won't be difficult

Re: Asus P7P55D Intel P55 ,working with OEM.TGZ mods
Hi Guys, up to now i've experiences with vmware server on microsoft basis and just want to step over to ESXi now, so please forgive me being an unfamiliar beginner in here. I've just configured a whitebox very similar to the mac's mashine (cpu, board, memory). When i try to install the current ESXi 4.1.0 the process aborts with "Unable to find system image to install. This is due to the image not being mounted correctly or the CD-ROM not being supported." Also i unfortunately didnt succeed to create a modified iso with the advices given in the related threads. So i would be really happy if you could share your results with me and help me to understand what changes have to be done for a working ESXi installation. After a whole weekend trying to modify several iso's (4.1 and 4.0), verifying checksums, changing bios-options, doing the recommended standard-checks and fixes, i'm feeling like don't kow where's right or left Martin

Is it an IDE or USB CD-ROM? Do you have a USB flash device that you could boot from?

Hi Dave, thanks for your reply i'm using an IDE DVD-ROM which i also replaced by another one for debugging. USB flash sticks are available and also capable to boot successfully with the whitebox (for example DSL-Linux). Martin
