I have run the script and I have it in a folder with a oem.tgz and an ISO image of esx.

Do I answer yes to the question "Do you like to add custom file from custom-esx?"

And does the oem.tgz need to be somewhere other than the root or should I take the files inside of it out and put them into the custom-esx folder?

Sorry to be a pain.

I have no support for the MOD.TGZ file. You could add the files in that into the oem file or just in the custom-esx and say yes on that question.

That question is only if you have extra driver etc that isn't in the oem file.
Example you download a oem file from the internet and you like to add your own drivers. You can add something like this custom-esx/drv/drver.o
What the script dose is to copy the files and folder from custom-esx to the esx-oem and compress the folder to oem.tgz

Hello, I've already installed VMware Esxi 4.0 but now I want to use it in different machine; the "new" one has a Intel Dq57tm Motherboard and uses 82578DM. When I turn it on, it crashes giving the error that network adapter is no compatibly.
Two questiones:
1º Is there any way to solve it without reinstalling Vmware with a modified oez..?
2º If I have to reinstall it, does anyone has all the modifications in the oem.tgz, the pci.ids and simple.map?

Thanks
Nico

How far in the boot process does it get and it is crashing with a purple screen?

If it just errors out you could access the console and then try to manually load the NIC driver. If that works then you just need to modify simple.map and place it in oem.tgz.

Just wanted to say thanks.

I ran the script, had a couple of errors when I tried to boot from the USB stick apparently some the c32 files werent valid so I copied them over from the install media but now I have the board up an running with no errors.

At the moment I am running

1x DC
1x Email backend server
1x Email front end server + web
1 x SQL server
1x vCenter server
1 x File server
1 x Freenas server used for iScsi storage for dev.

This is on a i3 530 8GB ram 1 GBnic, soon to be 3 as there is significant network lag.

Once again thanks for all your help and support.

Vince

:?: Thanks for your good work, all of you.
I try to install esxi 4.1 on a HP Elite 8100 CMT as a test environment prior to installing it to a real IBM X3650 server later.
The script for Intel 82578 ran through after all, but the created USB install stick booted to the (continously repeated) error message: "menu.c32: not a COM32R image"
What went wrong? Thanks in advance, gromit42

It may be related to the syslinux version used. I found a few threads suggesting this as the fix for some Linux boot issues:
Miscellaneous
Problem: You receive “not a com32r image” on booting
Solution: Use pxelinux.0 from the 3.x release of syslinux not 4.x

Are you using Varazir's script to build the USB install stick or another method?

Hi, thanks,
yes, I am using Varazir's script. How can I use the other library while building?
Thanks again!

Are you able to create a custom ISO or use the boot from USB option?
