ESXi 4 (171294) - 06/22/09

GA-MA78GM-US2H (rev. 1.0) BIOS F5 > OK
http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Moth ... uctID=2995

AMD 5050e 2.6GHz (45W)
x4 2GB DDR2 800 Kingston CL6 (8GB)
AMD-V > OK
AMD IOMMU > untested
USB > OK
onboard NIC > not recognized
Intel Gigabit CT Desktop 82574L > OK
x1 SATA 80GB (ESXi 4 system)
x2 SATA WD WD10EADS 1TB (VMs)
SAS3041E-R > OK (raid1 x2 hdd 1TB)

* ssh enabled
* temperature sensors and rotation of the cooler is not detected in vSphere

** ESXi boot via USB not functional, even with PS2 mouse and keyboard!

I am thinking of putting pictures of the entire project, as did some modifications in the box for better cooling and also to make the system quieter.
* the system is to consume little power in the order of 50-55W.

I haven't seen mention of the 3041E before. You might want to check the PCI ID against this list - http://www.vm-help.com/esx40i/Hardware_support.php.

I have a little test box here with a Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-UD2H which worked fine under ESXi4 until I decided to get fancy and move to RAID1. The onboard fakeraid wouldn't work of course so I threw in a spare SAS3042E card I had laying around with that same LSI 1064E chip on it.
Unfortunately it makes the system hang right after the card's BIOS executes. I've tried updating the mbd firmware and the card firmware as well as various BIOS tweaks, (disabling virtualization, telling the 1064E not to hook interrupts, enabling hybrid EC etc etc), all to no avail so far.
This is, however, an OEM card from HP so the firmware may not be happy running in a non-HP environment. I was contemplating loading more generic firmware from LSI and then I saw this thread.
Is your setup working okay?

update ...

LSI 3041E-R (SAS3041E-R)> OK :D
firmware 01.28.02.00 RAID1 x2 WD 1TB

friend, to solve your problem, do not have to configure anything in BIOS but disable the boot on the card and the system will run without any problems, the same thing happened here.

hope I have helped, then tell it to resolve the problem.

sorry for the delay in responding,

01:00.00 SCSI storage controller Mass storage controller: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic LSI1064E [vmhba3] Class 0100: 1000:0056

my chipset does not allow direct access to hardware :(, but I did not try it on the board LSI believe it is possible.

I'll order this card and install it into my HP DL320 and cross my fingers.

GA-MA78GM-US2H (rev. 1.3)
not work, no network card found!
All you need a Intel Pro/1000 to install it, then change OEM.tgz with Realtek 8168 driver. , then remove the Intel card, bootup! Binggo!
