Intel S3210SH MB and Q6600 CPU ESXi v 4
EDIT: Darn it! I've posted this in the wrong forum. How do I move it to the ESX 4 forum?
Hey Folks,
I have been running ESXi 3.5 update 4 on the above hardware for 4 months.
Reading Daves list of added drivers for ESXi 4 I noticed A LOT of additions for Intel.
So, following his upgrade path I applied it.
The result is outstanding. Here is the setup:
VMware ESXi v 4 build 164009 installed on a 2 GB USB Flash Disk
Intel S3210SH Server Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 CPU
8GB ECC RAM
2 x 500GB SATA 2 Disks
2 x On Board 10/100/1000 NICS
Machine is configured with AHCI for the Disks and all 6 SATA headers work.
Did not test Optical drive, as the machine doesnt have one.
Both Nics work, on this MB one is connected to the PCI bus and the other to the PCI Express bus, despite being on board NICS
The USB Disk for Booting is plugged in to the onboard USB header inside the case.
Full details for the MB are:
Main Chipset: Intel 3210 Chipset
NIC Chipsets: 82541PI (uses the e1000 driver) AND 82566DM (uses the e1000e driver)
Storage Controller: ICH9R
Salaams,
Alex
