 Intel SATA Software Raid Help
ESXi v4.1
I have read all the post about using the Intel Software Raid controller and no one really has had an answer other than dmraid.o but it appears to have a problem with the driver. Anyway, I have an old laptop that has an ICH9 software raid controller and when I get ESXi up it doesn't see any of the drives. I have created a USB boot stick so I can load the network drivers and have that part working. The system sees the controller or should I say I looks like its sees the card but not the drives. I have even changed the BIOS to ATA and ACHI but I still get the same problem. When I changed the values in BIOS I also changed the values in Target?.py from IDE to ISCSI but that didn't help. Anyone that might have an idea I would greatly appreciate it. If dmraid.o is the correct file where can I get the source and I will try and correct the problem with I am a programmer so I should be able to correct it, if I can get the code.
Thanks everyone.... And happy holidays....

Re: Intel SATA Software Raid Help
Hi Scott, if you run lspci -p at the console is a driver (module) loaded for ICH controller?

Re: Intel SATA Software Raid Help
What sort of MB are you using? Are you able to post the PCI id for the controller?

Re: Intel SATA Software Raid Help
Yes, motherboard.
With some intel 6 port SATA controllers it helps to try different ports.
