 start vm from CLI
Is it possible to start vm (or manage) from CLI interface? If so what is the command instead of performing those tasks from vsphere client.

 Re: start vm from CLI
In Tech Support Mode you can use vim-cmd vmsvc. It will list a bunch of VM related cmds to use. You can also run vim-cmd to see other host options.
Most of the cmds use the ID for the VM instead of the VM name so you start with vim-cmd vmsvc/getallvms.
Then to start a VM use vim-cmd vmsvc/power.on <VMid>.
I'd also suggest looking at PowerCLI and the vCLI. With the vCLI you can use vmware-cmd.pl and with PowerCLI you can use Get-VM "Linux01" | Start-VM
