Is it still required to virtual BusLogic SCSI adapter for XP
I have loaded up ESXi 4.1 and was wondering if you still used the virtual BusLogic SCSI adapter for windows XP. If so do you know where I can find it? I have the RealTek r8168 driver 8.018.00 on my board but cannot get out to the internet. The host is using the tick.uh.edu time server so I know it is getting out ok..
Thank you, Paul

If you just want to use the default install CD image then you can stick with BusLogic or configure the VM with an IDE virtual disk. Otherwise if you go with LSILogic you have to manually creaete an install image.

I am getting the error "your client has issued a malformed or illegal request" when I try to pull up anything in google. I am using the VMXnet 2 Enhanced driver on XP. Should I use that one or another?
Thank you, Paul

Do you have an option for the e1000 for XP? Your problem seems similar to this one - viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2019&start=10&hilit=malformed

I can choose that nic... the default was flexbile... then I tried the VMXnet 2... I will try the e1000 and see how that works.

Re: Is it still required to virtual BusLogic SCSI adapter fo
I was able to ping google... I obtained an IP address... I was able to ping local and it is showing the machine name on my router. So from that perspective everything looks good.
Thank you, Paul

Ok... I also tried the E1000 NIC... I can ping out to google fine still ... It's like there is security somewhere blocking it... any suggestions?
Thank you, Paul

Any problems with communication on your LAN or from XP to other VMs?

no issues on the LAN I have seen... this is my first VM on the host so I might put up a Linux Test to see if that works...

That would be worthwhile for the next step. Any chance the ISP is using a smaller MTU?
