 Intel i5 / 750 not working under ESXi 4.0.0 -> Yes it does!

Post Intel i5 / 750 not working under ESXi 4.0.0 -> Yes it does!
The Intel i7/xxx CPU is supported under ESX 4i.
On my MB ( Asus P7P55 LX ) I installed the Intel i5 / 750.
CPU is working but only with 1 CPU!

Error message:

vtd failed -> failed to load iommu driver

TSC: 24937080 CPU0:0 SMP : 498
Invalid HT config ( num HT 16, num PCPUS 4 )
0:00:00:38.314 CPU0;4912) mod 2971: Initialisation for vtd failed with -1.

question:
Is there a solution for the CPU problem ?

Do you have an option to disable Intel Directed I/O in the BIOS? Have you updated the BIOS?

Many thanks for this advise.
Disable VT-d in BIOS -> no solution.
BIOS Upgrade to version 0708 -> no solution.

Reinstallation after disabled VT-d setting -> tadaaaaa -> 4 CPU's active!
No Hypertreading in this CPU :-(

No error message anymore
All CPU Cores are now up and running -> checked in CPU performance -> 4 CPU's available!. :D

Sorry for digging this thread up. Do your onboard NIC work?

I read somewhere that Intel has disabled support for VT-d on the Core i5 - 750 for some unknown reason.

I am not aware of this VT-d disabled option -> This is a feature of the CPU but must be enabled in system BIOS.

I tried to fix the LAN problem but is took me too long time to find out what's wrong. I am using Intel Pro/1000GT Desktop Adapter ( according HQVL ).

@jgswinkels: Are you saying that with the BIOS version 0708 and the VT-d disabled, and with an extra Intel NIC, you got VMware ESXi 4 working on the Asus P7P55 LX board? If so, are you using the onboard SATA controller (Intel MatrixStorage Technology?

Did this all work out of the box?

Did this all work out of the box?

Yes, installation acording procedure below:
1) Disable onboard LAN in BIOS
2) Disable VT-d support in BIOS
3) Install an Intel Pro/1000GT Desktop Adapter ( according HQVL ).
4) Install ESX4i
-> VMware-VMvisor-Installer-4.0.0.Update01-208167.x86_64.iso
or ESX4
-> ESX-4.1.0-update01-348481.iso
Disks attached to the Onboard SATA controller.
Used disks -> 4 * 1 TB SAMSUNG HD103SJ and 1 *60 GB OCZ 2D Vertex2 SSD

System is working fine.
Disk I/O Performance as expected ( always too slow :D ) :D
