Problem with support NIC card and hard disk
Hello, I have Motherboards ASUS P5Q-EM nad additional NIC card 4 ports DLINK DFE 580TX. I installed ESXi 3,5 when I had setup in Bios SATA AHCI. WHEN I have setting for SATA IDE than I cannot install ESXi 3,5. When I installed ESXi I found error with lvmdriver and my NIC c ard cannot be recognize. Question is ESXi support DLINK 580TX? I found that I ghave to add to iso of ESXi driver for integrated nic card on ASUS Motherboards. Other question is, can I use AHCI for SATA disk or I have to change settings? If it is possible I can install 4.1 but I think that is not support, I do not have 64bit architectue. Than k You for help
Best regards, Sebastian

Re: Problem with support NIC card and hard disk
For ESXi 4.x you would require a 64 bit CPU.
I'm not aware of an ESXi 3.x driver for the DLink NIC so you would either have to compile one or swap in another NIC. An Intel Pro 1000 GT is a common choice.

Re: Problem with support NIC card and hard disk
With ESXi 4.x you'll get an lvmdriver error if ESXi can't recognize a NIC. With ESXi 3.x it'll install (even if ESXi can't see a NIC), but you'll have IP address issues on first boot.

Re: Problem with support NIC card and hard disk
ESXi has a linux driver compatability module, but drivers still need to be compiled for ESXi from modified Linux source code. See an example here for a Marvel driver - http://www.kernelcrash.com/blog/using-a ... 009/08/22/.

Re: Problem with support NIC card and hard disk
OK, I added new driver. This oem.tgz has to be in folder where iso , script are.

You can use the script here - viewtopic.php?f=10&t=4 to build a custom ISO image.
