Guys,

I am having an issue trying to insatall ESXi 3.5 on a HP-DC7800 booting from CD. I get the following error -

"Installation Operation failed. Unable to find a supported device to write VMWare ESX Server 3i 3.5.0 image to"

I have read the forums and it looks like it is an issue with the hard drive set to IDE. I have gone in to the console and did a lspci -v lspci -p, and my HD is listed as IDE Controller [vmhba0]. I have checked in my BIOS and the only options I have under "Storage Options - SATA Emulation" are IDE and RAID. I have tried both but neither work.

Can anyone advise?

Updated the system BIOS, set the contoller to RAID and ran the installer again. Installed this time.
