PCI ID 8086:1502 Have you confirmed that the driver will work OK with your device first? If you run vmkload_mod <driver.name> and the NIC doesn't come up, then it won't help to edit the oem.tgz archive.

Re: Intel 82578DC 8086:10f0 (on Intel motherboard DH55TC)
Dave,
I have gotten a little further but now i am getting. The installation operation has encountered a fatal error:
unable to find the system image to install this due to the image noot being mounted correctly or the cd-rom not being supported.
when i run requested command i recieve the following. -- ash: vmkload: not found
ESX 4.1 was compiled with ESXI customizer 2.5 with chilly's oem.tgz file that is supposed to support my pci id 8086:1502

There was an issue with 4.1 that resulted in this error:
unable to find the system image to install this due to the image noot being mounted correctly or the cd-rom not being supported.
You could install 4.0 and then upgrade or if you do some searching you might find a solution.

Thank you to everyone that assisted with my issue. Finally got it working. had to download updated 4.1 ISO from 3rd party and then edit ks.cfg file and replace menu and boot file. Good now looking forward to chillys 5.0ESXI driver release appearance.

I don't mean to sound ungrateful or disrespectful, but Chilly, do you have any ETA for the new driver to be released, or could you update us on what still needs to be done?
This because I need to build a new box with the 82578 NIC in it, and I'd like to use ESXi 5 from the start. If the new driver is going to take much longer, I'll just use 4.1 with the old driver.
In any case I'd like to thank you for all your hard work - I really appreciate it!

Hey guys! As Peetz has posted, I posted the initial first version late last night(Mon Nov 14). As always, I provide them AS-IS and AT-YOUR-OWN-RISK. Let me know any issues you guys are having, and enjoy! Post from [H]ard|Forum below;Chilly wrote: First release for ESXi 5.0, it may be buggy as hell, cause your system to crash, etc etc, so I provide it AS-IS, I take no responsibility for any damage, USE AT OWN RISK. This release is designed for use with Peetz ESXi Customizer ( http://esxi-customizer.v-front.de/ ). Let me know if you have any issues, if your device isn't detected or whatever comments you want to throw my way. Enjoy! http://dl.dropbox.com/u/27246203/E1001E.tgz
