You might want to go through the VMware source for the ahci driver and see if they've made additional changes to it.

well it turns out the problem was not the disk driver but the lousy Nvidia onboard ethernet. I already had issues with that pc under windows before, which resulted in the ethernet port shutting down under load. Now under vmware the ethernet still has issues, however the difference is now that it crashes the whole system.
To make a long story short, i have put in another ethernet card and shut off the one on the mainboard. so far, so good....

Here oem.tgz with support Nvidia MCP73 AHCI Linux controller

Tested on m/b Zotac 630i
In bios setup for storage controller enable mode "AHCI LINUX"

I had ESXi 4.1 installed many many moons ago, then the HDD blew up. Replaced it with a Seagate 7200.11 500GB.

Now I can't install ESXi.

Please help!
