No network devices.
Old machine but still useful. Seems odd could of sworn there was support now.
I remember in 4.1 they added a sky2 driver, but seems to me you still had to add the pciids for the onboards to get them to work.

Is it a case of just adding PCI ID for them to work or did they remove hardware support?

ESXi 5.0 still includes a sky2-driver for Marvell NICs. However, it's still a quite old version (1.20) of the driver.

You can try adding the PCI ID of your device to the file
/etc/vmware/driver.map.d/sky2.map

By default there are only two devices listed here:
11ab:4354
11ab:4362

This works or at least superficially, however the age of the driver is concerning. Hopefully it will work under VM load or in other scenarios.
