Unable to get cdrom to connect to a vm
I'm running an esxi 4.1 host. Anytime I connect the Host device cdrom to a vm, it will not stay connected. The task process just fine and finishes without an error. But if I go back into the seting for the vm, it will show the connected check box unchecked. I tried this with a few vm's and cdrom will not stay connected to any. I tried checking the connect at power on & connected. Still nothing. I also, reinstalled the esx os using that cdrom drive just fine.
Now this cdrom worked fine a few days ago. what should I look for? thanks

Does it work OK if you're using a datastore ISO? Are you checking "connected" or "connect at power on"?

Re: Unable to get cdrom to connect to a vm
It will mount an ISO just fine. I have tried "connected" and "connect at power on" separately , still nothing.
I have also tried logging into the esx host directly using vsphere and still the same. This is so odd. Worked fine the other day, and I can boot to a win7 build I have on another drive and the cdrom works fine.
thanks

What model of controller is the CD-ROM connected to?
