Thanks! T anybody able to speak to this? also, i know that these discussions have been geared towards esxi; will it work on straight esx? thanks! wally I would expect that the driver would behave in the exact same manner.

 Re: OEM.TGZ for the Sil3132
Hi there ppl!
First of all, thanks for this oem.tgz!
I have included it on the installation CD and added it to the boot sequence. Now my discs are recognized. But they are not recognized as RAID (despite the fact that I created a Raid 1).
Thanks in advance!

 Re: OEM.TGZ for the Sil3132
Hello Ripka, the sil3132 series is a software RAID controller. ESX(i) doesn't support software RAID so the best you'll get is individual disks.

 Re: OEM.TGZ for the Sil3132
Damn! I specially bought that card thinking it was hardware based RAID.
How can I tell if a card is software based or not?
Is there any card you recommend to install this system using a RAID?
Thanks in advance!

 Re: OEM.TGZ for the Sil3132
I would look at a Dell Perc 5 /6. You get hardware RAID plus health status in ESXi.

 Re: OEM.TGZ for the Sil3132
Thanks for the tip, but I think I won't be able to get one of those cards in my country (Argentina).
Is there any known and supported hardware-based-raid-cards list? (not the hardware compatibility page)
Thanks for your time!

 Re: OEM.TGZ for the Sil3132
Cheers so much Dave!
I have a RocketRAID 231x. It recognises the 4 disks as individual 1TB drives now but not as a 3TB RAID 5 that is currently configured.
Any ideas? I'm hoping this isn't also a software based RAID.

 Re: OEM.TGZ for the Sil3132
As far as I know Sil3132 devices are software based RAID.
