Post Re: MSI X58 Platinum I7 920 with onboard everything
For an update on my situation.

esxi 3.5 and 4.0 installed just fine on this box.
I've actually built 2 (one for work, one for home.)
I currently run 4 vm's off of 2 different hard drive non-raid.
I recently ran 5-6 vm's off of my home box on 1 hard drive and I
got a purple screen of death.

I tried to see where the problem was by trying to get a purple screen but
it only happened when I had above 5 vm's running concurrently (no heavy load.)

So far at home I've been running 4 vm's concurrently without fail off of 1 hard drive. I was thinking it was either an i/o issue, or esxi 4.0 issue.

We purchased this same motherboard and cannot get version 4.0 to install. It keeps booting to failed to load lvmdriver and tpmdriver. How did you get past this. We are running the same MSI motherboard, 16GB DDR3 Memory and Intel I7 920 Processor.

The "failed to load lvmdriver" typically indicates that the system does not have a NIC that ESXi can use. If you have an Intel Pro 1000 or Broadcom 57xx around I would add it and give it another try. If I'm building a whitebox that doesn't have NIC support I usually add an Intel Pro 1000 GT which are fairly cheap to get.
