No problem. If the driver loads OK and you can see the NIC in esxcfg-nics then it's just a matter of fixing simple.map. But if it has problems loading then it is a driver / hardware issue which may not be easy to fix.

Ultrapain, I don't do this for fun. I do this for a living. Forgive me for not knowing everything about everything in IT. I have my core knowledge. Outside of that I look to others as resources. I don't have a problem compensating others for extending their knowledge to me to solve a problem. The bottom line is providing a solution to my customers as cost effectively as I can. I'm sorry that I drive you nuts, but your comment that I don't want to do this and I want others to do it for me is simply out of touch with reality. There are problems that need solutions. All solutions cannot be found without the help of others. I don't know what you do for a living but if you are in IT and you are a consultant, I would expect you to be more understanding. If you are in IT and you are not a consultant, I would suggest that you try consulting for a period of time. You will quickly find that arrogance in place of knowledge does little for you in terms of customer service. If you are not in IT at all you have little ground to criticize those who are.

Guy, I have no interest in entering a slam contest with you. I've been a consultant for 7 years with 2 of the 5 largest firms in the world, so I know what it takes. My point was that it was very over the top for you to attempt to forego the work that others have done and to ask those that have done so to package their work and send it over to you on the mere possibility of compensation. These folks are unbelievably intelligent and crafty and have done a great deal of work to discover the things that they have made.
I think to ask them to do all the work and then chuck it over the fence to you (again, with merely the 'possibility' of compensation) is just wrong. Having said that, my opinion is just that, and this forum is no place for that, so I would like to retract my post and will keep my opinions to myself. I guess I've always worked on the addage that "a lack of planning on your part does not constitute and emergency on my part".

For issues with the GA-MA78GM-US2H or r8168 NIC please post a question to viewforum.php?f=4 for ESXi 3.5 and viewforum.php?f=14 for ESXi 4.0.
