Post Re: GA-MA78GM-US2H With working r8168 driver
The box shows MA78GM-US2H. I actually bought this from Fry's as a CPU Mobo combo. The Fry's sticker on the box says GA-MA78HM-US2H.

I did notice that there is a post on the Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H with some modification to make AHCI work. Though this may not be the exact same Mobo, maybe its worth a try?

It would be worth changing the mode. Are there any unknown storage devices listed in the lspci output?

hi Grocks

I think it will work (even if the 2 chipsets are marginally different) and it is probably the modifications you made to the installer cd that is not working (speaking from my own experience during testing of the r8168 driver :-).

1. What oem.tgz file are you using?
does the simple.map contain the following lines:
1002:4380 0000:0000 storage ahci
1002:4381 0000:0000 storage ahci
1002:438c 0000:0000 storage ide
1002:4390 0000:0000 storage ahci
1002:4391 0000:0000 storage ahci
1002:4392 0000:0000 storage ahci
1002:4393 0000:0000 storage ahci
1002:4394 0000:0000 storage ahci
1002:4395 0000:0000 storage ahci
1002:439c 0000:0000 storage ide

2. Are you sure that the oem.tgz file gets loaded correctly?

3. Are you sure that it is not a hardware defect (does it load a live CD correctly?).

and so forth...

Regards
Jens

That's good to have some progress. Do you see your HD if you run fdisk -l and could you post the PCI if for the storage controller (use lspci / lspci -v / lspci -p).

You can use the ESXi boot CD method here to get a console and run lspci and fdisk - http://www.vm-help.com/esx/esx3i/find_PCI_ID.php.
