 ESX server will not shutdown, it just keeps rebooting

Post ESX server will not shutdown, it just keeps rebooting
Hi,

I am newish to VI and also linux cli, so I am having a little trouble with the simple task of shutting my ESX server down. I have attempted from the VI Client and also the shutdown -h now command.

I have shutdown all the VMs, put the server into Maintenance mode. When I watch the console during shutdown everything seems to be [OK]. Once is successfully shuts down, 1 sec later it just reboots and starts up again????

Any ideas?

What sort of hardware are you using? If you try the poweroff command at the console does that work?
