I looked at these, but it didn't help for me. So I changed HDD to WD SATA I disk and this disk is working without problems. So I think, that there is some incompactibility between SATA controller and new WD disks with SATA II.

On the newer sata2 WD HD's there's usually a jumpersetting on the back to put the drive into "sata1-mode". Usually this is done through shorting pins 5-6 I believe, but I advise you to consult the documentation first.

So I make one more test and I bought Promise SATA controller and try to instal ESXi to WD 320 GB disk and I have no problems with instalation of Linux in virtual machine. So I think, that problem is with Silicon Image SATA controller.

I can confirm that this RAID controler works with ESXi 4.1 u1, but I have one problem, when I create RAID 1 array, ESXi recognise 2 separate disks and no mirroring. Did anybody managed to get RAID 1 to work on ESXi?
