 Resetting the root password

Post Resetting the root password
How do you reset the root password in ESX 3i 3.5?

Most blogs ive read mention pressing 'a' at boot up during the GRUB screen, but i don't see this GRUB screen.

I've also tried shift-O, passwdReset="TRUE" but am still asked for the root password.

The GRUB instructions apply to ESX and the passwdReset option was only available during the beta for ESXi.
