 Work around for installing vCenter Server on 1.3Ghz HP

Post Work around for installing vCenter Server on 1.3Ghz HP
Hi,
I am building a virtual study lab on a HP Microserver (dual core 1.3Ghz, 9GB RAM), and trying to install vCenter Server fails as the CPU is less than 2.0Ghz.

I only have 3 VMs to manage on this host. Is there a work around for installation ?

You could try the nocheckCPUIDlimit option - http://www.vm-help.com/esx40i/vmkernel_boot_options.php.

Thanks Dave for your quick reply. I am trying to install vCenter Server on this hypervisor. I think your tutorial describes editing a hypervisor itself.

How can do similar "hacking" to make a vCenter Server install on my Win7 VM ? Thanks again.

Sorry - I missed that detail.

I don't think think vCenter includes any install switches beyond the MSI basics. You might be able to edit the MSI package directly to see if the CPU limit is code in there - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/255905. I've done that in the past with other software to get around an OS check.
