 Poor NIC performance (RTL8111D/8168)
A week ago I removed a Intel e1000 PCIe NIC from my ESXi 5.1U1-machine to free the Slot for a native RAID-Controller.

The MB is a GA-H55M-USB3 which has a RTL8111D soldered on it.

The System boots fine, the Settings for the new NIC went without Problems.

I simply had to re-configure Network Settings for the VMs.
the NIC itself is listed as connected 1000Mbit/s Auto negotiation

in parallel I read about a tool named iperf which can test the Network throughput.
In a posting I read something about a speed of 12-15 Gbit/s between two Windows Machines (VMs of course) - nice ?

So, I tried the same on my virtual Environment and was disappointed to get values of 10-14 Mbit/s - which is disappointing.

Okay, inside the VMs, the Network Connection is listed to have 10GBit/s, which is artificial value I guess.
12-15GBit/s is also unbelievable fast, but 12 MBit/s is far too slow and the VMs also feel like this Network Speed.

The tips to improve Network Speed like enabling Jumbo Frames and disabling TSO did not Change the Speed at all.

Is there something else to consider ? reverting to the e1000-NIC is at the Moment not possible.

What Kind of MB-NIC chip should be preferred for a future Mainboard-buy ?
