I am trying to find a inexpensive SATA-Raid card to install in a system with a ASUS P7P55D-E mobo. I have a RocketRaid 2710 controller and I was hoping that the maker or someone else would come up with drivers for ESX 5.0 but I'm tired of waiting.

Can someone confirm if the LSI SAS 9211-4i will work under ESX 5.0? I've reviewed VMWare's compatibility guide and it does not show it. LSI's documentation also makes no mention of it. But I see that VMware seems to indicate that it is compatible on this link:

ps. I'm looking at this since it fits in my 4x pci-express slot that is free.

ESXi does support the 9211-8i. I'd assume these are the same card besides the port count.

I'd like to think so but the possible issue is that the -4i uses a sas 2004 controller while the 8i uses a sas 2008 controller. Not sure if that is really a big difference. I did notice that the link for the compatibility guide that you posted shows 8 as the # of ports but the link that I found for the 4i shows 0 ports.
