 sil3132
Has anyone been able to get a controller with the sil3132 chipset working in ESXi 5.0? I have a SYBA SD-SA2PEX-2IR plugged into a Tyan S5512WGM2NR and everything works great but this component.
I've been reviewing the process for ESXi 4 <http://www.bytedynamix.com/?p=77> but I don't think its going to work for v5.0. I've also been looking into the ESXi Customizer but I don't think it'll incorporate 'sata_sil24.o' from <http://temp.vm-help.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=231&p=6085#p6085>.
Thanks much for your consideration. G~

 Re: sil3132
There are a few people looking for this, but it seems that nobody has built the driver for ESXi 5.0 yet.

Add me to the list... I have a card based on this chipset and would love to be able to get it working.

 Re: sil3132
The driver which can be loaded was made.
Symbol problems (ata_eh_freeze_port, sata_link_debounce, and ata_link_abort) can never be solved, but it has deleted from the source file.
Please try, although there is no telling whether to function.
Best regards,

 Re: sil3132
Are there any instructions on how to create the driver set? I am trying to accomplish this for the rocket raid card and need help.
Thanks for your time!

No works. MB Gigabyte PH67-UD3-B3, i7-2600, St-Lab A-410 I tried to install driver in 2 ways - customizing ISO and downloading into vanilla ESX via esxcli. All was OK. But after that during booting process system freezes on "usbarbitrary start" stage.

 Re: sil3132
This doesn't work for me either, although it does make the box pick up the SIL3124 on my OCZ Revo Drive. It only sees one of the two drives on it, though.
Asus P6X58D-E
It boots the installer just fine, but when it does a drive scan, it doesn't see the drives attached to the card. I installed this via the ESXi Customizer 2.6.2
ETA: I can see the controller in lspci for both the 3132 card and the Revo. BUT, the 3132 driver is labeled "vmnic1" instead of a "vmhba#" like I would expect.
So, it's being loaded as a network driver instead of a host bus adapter. Odd. Perhaps it has something to do with using the ESXi Customizer to load two drivers.

 Re: sil3132
Hi,
in the VIB file ichi posted here there was an error in the mapping file for the driver. The mappings include a "class=network" statement, but it should be "class=storage" in this case.
I have corrected that in the attached file. Please try again with that version.
