Im very much unsure that where the problem even might be so im posting here. Move if this belongs somewhere else.

I have a working whitebox running esxi 5.0 ( viewtopic.php?f=27&t=3357 ) and with the E1000 adapter there are no problems whatsoever. Running a source dedicated server ( im a non-profit GSP to learn and experiment for my studies) on an ubuntu server 11.04 inside one of my vms. I installed the vmware tools and forced the pvscsi, vmxnet3 and vmmemctl kernel modules to be upgraded with the versions that come with the tools. The VMs are configured with EFI boot if that matters. With the vmxnet3 adapter the server wont show up in the master server list but strange enough directly connecting is possible. If someone joins the server manually i cant show a list of players and it says that the server is not responding. apparently a status query either isnt going through or is deformed when it leaves or arrives at the vmxnet3 adapter.

Its either a bug in either the vmxnet3 driver, ubuntu or the source dedicated server, or some configuration issue that im blissfully oblivious about.

Any help would be much appreciated as to how to approach this problem.
