You can use the steps in this article to enable the DCUI within a SSH session.

This doesn't work from the terminal.app in Mac OS 10.8.2. I don't have other versions of OS X to test.

Do you have other SSH apps to try? I just tried it with 5.1 build 779733 and putty and it still works for that combo.

Dave,
Sorry I forgot to be notified when there's a response. (N00b mistake) Anyway, in Mac OS X I've tried the built in terminal.app, iTerm2.app, and Terminator.app. None of which work for the dcui trick. I didn't try to compile the putty source for UNIX since, as you stated, it works great with Putty for Windows! ;-)

Great tip all the same!

Works on other platforms too. The trick is to do export TERM=xterm before you do dcui

Trickstarter,
As always, thank you so much. You continue to enlighten this n00b. Is there a way to set this permanently? Through an environment command or something?

Never mind, it can be set for each different type of terminal window, in the preferences section of the terminal.app.

You all are just plain awesome! Just saying.. ;-)
