Post DELL T3500 W3520 or HP Z600 Dual Quad XEON E5530
Hi All,

Just want to get either one of the boxes below :

Which one is better for a good esx lab :

Dell T3500 = ONE x W3520 with 24GB RAM - ONE NIC
HP z600 = TWO x E5530 (QuadCore-HT), 24GB ECC RAM - Dual Nics

Z600 can go upto 48GB RAM (Which I will upgrade to in June 2013 - for now it has 24GB)

Q : Would I get advantage of Dual Quad Core CPUS with HT as compared to the T3500 with ONE x Quad Core HT processor ?

I am not very well aware of esx architecture and I have heard that to utilize the true power of dual quad core cpus - an application has to be mult-threaded ?

Will be grateful for your advises / suggestions (I personally like both - but z600 looks good then t3500).

Thanks for reading and will look forward to your expert suggestions !!
Kind regards

Confirmed Working :

HP Z600

2 x Quad Core E5530 (HT ENABLED)
24GiB ECC RAM
Intel 5520 Chipset
Nvidia Quadro FX3500
1 x Broadcom BCM5764
1 x BCM5761
All SATA Ports (With SATA MODE SET TO IDE)

So far so good - will report some further experiments with PCI Pass-through laters -

It supports EPT - Extended Page Tables for nested virtualization for 64Bit

Hope this helps someone - thanks
