I'll try that tonight. I have waited an extra amount of time to make sure it had the time to write to the USB stick. My understanding is that it's supposed to write every 10 minutes.

I'd have to double check, but I'm pretty sure it occurs at 1 minute past the hour. It may have changed in 5.x.
That said, it should also save the configuration when the host is rebooted / shutdown as well.

hey Dave,

nice build you have there with your shuttle.

so far fairly close to geting a shuttle box maybe a newer version box Z77 with 500w power

my questions are,

1. is it recommended to get a CPU with out GFX and use a video card in the ESXi host shuttle box?

a. i'm hoping to be able to passthru a good gfx card to my VM guest(s).

2. Intel Core i7-3770 Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 4000 BX80637I73770
Intel Core i7-2600 Quad-Core Processor 3.4 GHz 8 MB Cache LGA 1155 - BX80623I72600

a. these two cards are quite close in price and i bellive both have integrated GFX
for a shuttle box and EFXi would you recommend the i7-3770 over the i7-2600?

3. is 16MB ram enough or should one get 32MB for this host?

a. my storage will be/is a synology ds1512+ with 3GB ram, starting with 3 x 2TB WD Red drives.

thx

I'd go 32 GB if you can and check that the disk controller has been tested with ESXi.

If you're thinking of passing a graphics card to your VM, check out this thread and the one it links to at communities.vmware.com.

How did you install the 3 NIC's?

Specification SH67H3 from shuttle website

Expansion Slots
1x PCI-Express x16 v2.0 slot (PEG, for graphics cards only)
1x PCI-Express x1 v2.0 slot
1x Mini-PCI-Express x1v2.0 slot (for the optional WLAN module)
Supports Dual-slot (double-width) graphics cards -
in this case the second PCI-Express slot will be occupied.
A 6 pin power connector is available for the graphics card.

So I can only use the 1x PCI-Express x1 v2.0 slot.
Right?

I'm a bit confused... How did you install the 3 Intel cards?

Hello,

can someone answer me that question?

Is it possible to install 3 NIC's there?

Thank you.

best regards

NIC 2 is dual port.
