Post Array not recognised for install
Hi all, noob here.

Im setting up a 5.0 lab environment at home with a mix of HP G4s and 5s.

Im trying to install to a raid1 array on a G5 DL320 but ESX only shows the individual disks, not the array. Boot sequence shows the HP Embedded Raid Controller recognising the array including its size and name.

Anyone come accross something like this before? I've installed to a USB, but am annoyed I couldnt install locally...

Cheers,
Riv.

Some HP servers come with an Adaptec based controller that uses HostRAID. That's another way of describing software RAID. While you do setup the array in the host's BIOS, it is the software driver that takes care of RAID functionality.

The drivers that come with ESXi don't support the software RAID functionality, thus the best you get is individual disks.
