 A question on shared storage
I'm not sure if questions like these should be asked here, so if they arent, can a moderator please delete my post.
If it's okay, my question is, I'm considering buying the Synology DS712+ for my vSphere lab. A 4 or 5 bay nas would be ideal, but for a home lab, is there any reasons why a 2 bay device would be a bad purchase?

Re: A question on shared storage
If you don't plan for a large number of VMs or have high I/O requirements then you can get by with a 2 disk system.
Have you seen anyone reporting this device as working with ESXi?

Re: A question on shared storage
Hi Dave.
According to Synology's website, it is VMware and Citrix certified. My only concern with the 2 bay is, if I'm building up this home lab, I'd hate to lose everything if 1 drive failed. I could use RAID 1, but then I'm losing a lot of storage
What would you recommend? I'd really like the 1511+ or the QNAP TS-459 Pro + looks okay. Not many people talk about QNAP

Re: A question on shared storage
Sounds like a 4 / 5 drive system would be a better fit.
