I have esxi4.1
I have only 2 clients on it.
I have added a USB controller to one machine. I have several USB ports (some USB2 and some USB3).
I can see the USB controller on the VM settings.
When the client is up (XP) I try to plug a USB device into any USB port - but it is not shown in the client.

I tried remove and install again, no change.

I tried with several USB devices (including some that are compatible - http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/docume ... ID=1021345 )

Will appreciate a debug way/check?

If you access the console and run lsusb do you see your devices?

Yes, running lsusb shows the correct device (aladdin ... V6.0)

but it does not shown on the client.

So when you plug in the USB device, it's not available to add to a VM? You have to add both the USB controller and the individual USB device.

I added the controller, but how to add the device? After it's plugged in, where do I see it?

You select Edit Settings for the VM and then Add Hardware. The option to select is USB Device (after the USB controller has been added).
