Just wanted to let everyone know that the Intel DP55WG Desktop Board with Core i7 860 works with VMDirectPath. You will need to explicitly enable VT-d in the BIOS, since the default is disabled.

The on-board network card is not supported by ESXi 4.0 (haven't tried 4.1 yet) so you will need to add your own NIC that is supported. It apparently uses Intel 82578DC chipset networking.

I'm not using the on-board storage controller, so I can't say whether that chipset is supported either. (I have a 3Ware storage controller card.)

What is noteworthy is that Intel's own spec page says that VT-d is not supported by this motherboard, even though it is present in the BIOS and works: http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=40078
