Another NIC like an Intel Pro 1000 will clear up the lvm error, but it may not help with the freezing problem.

I tried the other Intel network card, it still got the same problem, but I haven't tried to look the information of that network card (that is the 100MB Intel NIC, Windows 2003 does not have the default driver)

I will try the other DLink later

and try to use ESXi 4 instead of U1 later

thanks for your help

Hello Dave

Finally, I can access the unsupported console.

(I have disabled the network card in the BIOS and then re-enable it
then unsupported work! (don't ask me why, I really dunno)

The vmkload_mod tg3.o
is working

now, I am thinking how to make the oem.tgz

do you mind me to help me little bit?

If you don't have a linux system to work on I would do this

1) start the ESXi install process, access the console and get the NIC working
2) enable SSH for the install session (see the home page)
3) create a new oem file containing just a new simple.map file. (see the home page for instructions).
4) connect to the ESXi host from another PC via SSH and copy down the oem.tgz file
5) add the oem.tgz file to the root of the install folder and edit the cfg file to include it
6) install ESXi - then boot with ESXi and repeat steps 1 and 2
7) copy over the oem.tgz file to /bootbank and reboot.

If you have Linux you can create the oem.tgz file on it and use Varazir's script to create a custom install image.

Thanks a lot

Finally Done.
(Just don't know why Varazir website is not able to access (need to access via the Googlecode one) and the USB installation is not working (the USB is not bootable, (optional 2) , but Boot form USB is working)

I used the SUSE, which do not have the apt-get
need to running the linux live dvd (ubutune) to create the disk

Thanks for your help a lot

Post Re: Failed to load lvmdriver on HP Z600 workstation w/ BCM57
hello all i have been following this thread as i am also trying to install esxi 4.0 on a hp z600

so far i have done as dave suggested

gone into unsupported mode

done the vmkload_mod t3g.o and i loads successfull

and to get see my ide disc i did vmkload ata_piix.o that one loads successfull (remember the ide mode in bios if you have sata ad me)

but now i am a little confused of what next step is, i read alot about sample files and you need those to go on.

i tried edit the pyton script and but it still fails so i have no clue what i am doing wrong, perhpas

however if i type exit i can actually install onto my drive but if ofcourse fails after.

a little help would be nice :)

If you need to run the above 2 steps then you'll need to update simple.map and embed it into oem.tgz for the install and to boot ESXi post install.

For this you'll need to change simple.map to get the drivers to load automatically.
