Post ESXi without physical router/firewall
Is it possible to run ESXi without physical router and only virtual? The plan was to plug the ISP wan cabel straight to ESXi host first nic and the second one would be used for management.

It is not advisable as you expose your host to anyone to potentially access.

ESXi 5.0 does include a firewall (for protecting the host - not the VMs), but even with it I would be hesitant to directly connect it to the Internet.

Am I understanding correctly what you want to do?

Yes, i know that it is not recommended. But is it possible and how to configure?
Beacuse ESXi 5 is out, i am going to try install this, instead of ESXi4.
The VM-s would be for www/ftp/mail. Because of the place, where the machine would be placed i donĀ“t want to use any more devices only one pc.
