 How to use APC Smart UPS in VMWare ESX (not ESXi) 4.1 up 1? With USB or Serial connection.

Re: How to use APC Smart UPS in VMWare ESX (not ESXi) 4.1 up I'm not 100% up on APCC shutdown software these day. I would take it you're limited to the Business Edition for a serial/USB connection? If so you could run the software in a VM, passthrough the USB or serial connection, and then have the VM issue a shutdown command.

But I want to use COM-port with ESX and shutdown all VM's, ESX-host and turn off UPS.
If shutting down system from VM, UPS shutdown earlier than ESX-host.
And
apcupsd doesn't work on ESX - writes an error
Starting UPS monitoring: /sbin/apcupsd: /usr/lib/vmware/lib64/libgcc_s.so.1: version `GCC_4.2.0' not found (required by /sbin/apcupsd)
