 timeout downloading files with SCP
So, I have been trying to download files with SCP from my host.
The first 400M works like a champ, but then it just stops, and eventually timeout.
Anyone seen this before?
I am running ESXi 4.0 U1

Re: timeout downloading files with SCP
haven't seen it before. Do you have the encryption set to blowfish?

Re: timeout downloading files with SCP
I assume this is just the preference I would I set in my SCP client?
Is that what you would recommend?

Re: timeout downloading files with SCP
Yes. I use WinSCP and the default for SSH is AES. Changing the policy to have blowfish listed first speeds things up a bit.

Re: timeout downloading files with SCP
Same behavior. I am using WinSCP, and I have seen this behavior with 3.5 and with 4.0.
Might there be some log I can check?

Re: timeout downloading files with SCP
Look at /var/log/message and /var/log/vmware/hostd.log.

Didn't see anything unusual there.

Re: timeout downloading files with SCP
Is it just with SSH? I.e. is it OK with the vSphere client datastore browser or with FTP?

Yep. Vi CLient and FTP both work like a champ.

Re: timeout downloading files with SCP
Do you get a timeout error if you transfer from ESXi to a VM running on the host? Did this start after the update to 4.0?
