Post Vsphere Client Cannot connect.
I got the following error messages when trying to connect to a freshly installed ESXi 4 box. I have tired on two different computers from two different networks with the same errors.

First Error

Then it just goes back to the logon screen and says Connection Failed in the bottom left corner.

Any help would be great.

Are you using Windows 7?

Yes, Windows 7 32 Bit. The 2nd PC I tired was running Server 2008 R2.

Have you updated the host to Update 1. The client with 4.0 U1 is better able to support Windows 7 / 2008R2. There are some work arounds if you're just running ESX 4.0 and have not yet upgraded.

Yep, after updating, I don't need the workaround any more with Windows 7.

But, the Host Update Utility just crashes immediately upon launch.

Cheers,

I updated and it is working fine. Thanks.

I had the same issue with it crashing when I launched also. So I just uninstalled deleted the folder and reinstalled and it works great.

I've tried using Win7 for a number of apps with VMware and they are buggy. I'll rather just wait till everything is worked out. Even with U1 that just came out...
