Situation : Dell 1950 server 2 dual cores and 2 nics. Installed esxi 4.1 from dell itself. Host is up and running on a external ip and can be viewed by vSphere client. Now we have a qnap nas server we wish to attach as datastorage in a local network. Example : Nas ip = 192.168.1.108 so 2nd nic must have 192.168.1.103 Whatever we do, we can't get the datastorage to work. Tried different settings/ip's, also adding 2nd virtual switch commited to acces the local network. We can't ping the local network. What do we forget or doing wrong here ? At home we tried and it worked fine with another nas, but only 1 ip was set at that time.

Re: Problem activating 2nd nic on esxi 4.1
If you access the console for ESXi can you ping the IP for the NAS?
Are the "Nas ip = 192.168.1.108 so 2nd nic must have 192.168.1.103" addresses on their own subnet?
