Post ESX & VCenter LAB on top VMWARE workstation
Dear all,

I want a built a home lab for ESX & VCenter. Due to the limited space i have on my room, i can't have multiple machines inside my room. After read few articles i found that i can create a virtual lab on top of VMware Workstation 7 with additional tools like openfiler. I have tested it on my notebook but due the 4GB memory restriction i can't create a 3 nodes ESX cluster. So i decide to create a DIY PC with 16GB ram. Following is the list of Hardware on my mind:

    Mother Board: GigaByte GA-P67-DS3-B3
    Processor: Inter i3 P2100
    RAM: 4 x 4GB
    HDD: 2TB

Please confirm if i can use the above mentioned processor with ESX. Since i am going to install ESX on top of workstation do i have to worry about the mother board compatibility ? Please assist me.

You should be Ok with the processor. Since you're running Workstation it'll masks any hardware issues that ESXi might have if directly installed on the host.

I'd check the CPU specs to make sure that VT-x is supported.

Other than that I would check to see what others have had success with.
