Post 3ware 3DM2 on ESXi (3ware 9750 RAID)
I have used the available script to put the 3ware 9750 RAID drivers onto my install disk. I have the machine installed with the 9750 RAID controller as primary device.

I have read conflicting things regarding 3DM2 (3ware's RAID management tool / web interface) to get it working on ESXi.

Is there something I am just missing in order to get this done? I have read also that it will only work with ESX and not ESXi.

Thanks for the help.

Have you tried the driver here - http://kb.lsi.com/KnowledgebaseArticle15753.aspx#vmware?

Yes I used this driver to create my install disk, so I could use the 3ware as a Primary storage but this is only the driver to use the controller.

However this is not the monitoring software which is needed to say send out an email notification when a drive dies. Or re-initialization takes place on the RAID set.

So you can't monitor the controllers behavior / status of drives without rebooting and checking in the BIOS which is not an option with a production server. :D

Without having 3DM2 installed and running somehow I consider it useless to even try and use ESXi on a machine with this controller.
