 Win7 no USB
Hi Technicians, After installing the Vmware ESXi 4.1 host and client, i created and installed a virtue machine which is windows 7 (64 bit). But when i log into the windows, the machine cannot detect any of my USBs. Any ideas? Pleeeeeaaaeeeeessssseeee Help!!!!!!

To passthrough a USB device you need to edit the settings for the VM 1) and first add a USB controller 2) and then add actualy USB devices.

Hi again Dave, I have done the instructions that you have given me, but the VMware virtue machine still does not detect. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

What sort of USB device are you trying to add?

Dave, I am using usb2 external hard disk And Varazir, Yes the motherboard does support usb2
I have already installed the usb and the boot menu and bios of the VMware server machine detects the usb but the virtue dosen't. Any ideas?

I was thinking dose it support passthrough. My MB doesn't have that support.

If you access the console and run lsusb does the drive appear? Can you get access to other USB devices?

Dave I have tried lsusb on putty but nothing happens. The virtue detects my keyboard and mouse but not the external hard disk; though the VMware server detects all.
