 Re: Dell PowerEdge T110
Are you having a problem with storage or the NIC?

 Re: Dell PowerEdge T110
I can confirm that the built in SATA controller works out of the box with ESXi 4.0 U1.

 Re: Dell PowerEdge T110
For those who purchased or are purchasing this system to use with VMware which options did you choose? Did you choose a Hyper Threading Processor? Did you buy your RAM elsewhere? It looks like 16 GB RAM for this system would be about $600 at NewEgg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820145275Did you use the onboard SATA controller or add a controller? If I want to run several Windows VMs for test and study purposes and not for production do I need to add a SAS6iR and a RAID array? Thanks in advance.

 Re: Dell PowerEdge T110
Does the built-in SATA support any RAID under ESXi 4 or just JBOD?

 Re: Dell PowerEdge T110
With software RAID controllers like the Intel ICH, Intel Storage Matrix and nVidia MCP families you can only use individual drives. The software RAID functionality isn't included in the drivers with ESX(i).

 Re: Dell PowerEdge T110
Hi,
Can anyone confirm if you have been able to use the VMdirectpath feature with this server? I could not find confirmation that the board chipset supports VT-d.
Thanks

 Re: Dell PowerEdge T110
I was thinking of buying a T110 (or maybe a T310) if it supports VMDirectPath, so I'm interested in VT-d support as well.

 Re: Dell PowerEdge T110
Could someone verify if the T110 from this link would work? http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/ ... oc=bedwlr1Would the folks with the newer working T110's post their specs, and if ESXi 4.0 works out of the box or requires modding (of either the .iso or using a USB to boot)? Thank you

 Re: Dell PowerEdge T110
It appears that the Perc S100 is based on the Intel ICH10R chipset so ESXi should see the disk but you won't have any RAID support. http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/pr ... _Paper.pdfI didn't check the NICs for the system but if it is e1000 or e1000e based you should be OK but there's no garauntee on that.
