Post Problem with Broadcom 57xx NIC
Hello,

I have a Dell Precision T7400 with a Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit NIC that works and I also have a a Dell Precision T7500 with the same onboard NIC which does will not install ESXi 4.0. The error I get when attempting to install is:

Failed to load LVM Driver.

Anyone have suggestion on troubleshooting?

Thanks,
Ryan

Hello Ryan, when you get the install error, press ALT+f1 to get to the console and find the PCI id for the NIC - http://www.vm-help.com/esx40i/find_PCI_ID.php.

Also while you're in the console, try this
1) esxcfg-nics -l -- you should get no NICs listed
2) vmkload_mod /usr/lib/vmware/vmkmod/<driver_name>
3) run exscfg-nics -l again to see if anything is listed. If something is then you just need to edit simple.map to add the PCI id for your NIC.
