 ASUS M4N68T-M-LE
ESXi 4.x
Whitebox Setup -- ASUS M4N68T-M-LE -- AMD Athlon II X2 250 -- 4GB DDR3 eVM RAM x 1 -- 500 GB SATA Seagate HDD -- Network Controller - Realtek 8211C -- Storage Controller - MCP61 SATA/IDE Controller (Although the box mentions it is MCP68 chipset) -- No changes made to the BIOS -- BIOS does not list the AMD-V option although processor specs mention it is supported
By default the onboard NIC and SATA controllers do not work. Hence modified the pci.ids and simple.map file to include a reference to the PCI ids of the network and storage controller and that did the trick.
Attached is the modified oem.tgz.
Installed from a USB flash drive. Hence testing done only with ESXi 4.0. (ESXi 4.1 does not allow installation from a USB drive, still working on it). Will be testing ESXi 4.1 from a cd rom shortly and will post the update.

 Re: ASUS M4N68T-M-LE
ESXi 4.1.0.u1-348481 test from CD-ROM worked fine and the installation was successful. The whitebox is up and running successfully.

 Re: ASUS M4N68T-M-LE
I can also confirm this oem.tgz works.
I have an ASUS M4N68T-M V2, and AMD Athlon II X2 250.
ESX 4.1 U1 installation CD detected a 250GB SATA harddrive with no issues and installed correctly.
I did not test the network portion as I'm using a discrete Intel NIC I already had.
sangramkrath - can you please post the PCI IDS you added to this file for my curiosity? I want to see if there's any differences between the LE and V2 versions of this motherboard.

What sort of NIC and storage controller does the MB have? You can use this - http://vm-help.com/esx/esx3i/find_PCI_ID.php - to get the PCI ids for the NIC and storage controller.

 Re: ASUS M4N68T-M-LE
I tried to edit the 4.1.0 iso file and add in the oem.tgz file, as well as extract the pci.ids and simple.map files and adding them into the iso file. But I am getting the attached error every time when booting up. Does anyone have any suggestions? http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9357122/IMG_0046.JPG

 Re: ASUS M4N68T-M-LE
I can find the Vendor ID and Device ID of the network and SATA controller within Sangramkrath's oem.tgz, so I think it can work with this board... Trying to follow the below guide, but I can't find out how to use sangramkrath's oem.tgz. I extracted the iso onto a folder, then navigate to the imagedd to replace the oem.tgz, but i only see 1 file within the imagedd folder. Also, I am not seeing this path within the install.tgz file - install.tgz/install.tar/usr/lib/vmware/installer/VMware. I'm sure I am doing something wrong...can you help guide me in the right place? I am using WINRAR right now..should I be using another application to drill into the imagedd folder and install.tgz? http://vm-help.com/esx/esx3i/customize_oem_tgz.php

 Re: ASUS M4N68T-M-LE
Finally! I was able to install ESXi 4.1 on M4N68T-M-LE v2. Thank you all!
Now, in my virtual Windows 7 I have no sound. ESXi has support for sound card? What will be happening that I have no sound? Thank
