Hi,

Im going to use a similar setup I am currently using this network card (Intel Pro 1000 MT Dual Port) in a regular desktop pc

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-PRO-1000- ... 220&sr=8-2

Now this will work fine in ESXI 4.0, but im worried as the card is slightly larger than a regualr network card, and that it may not fit in a smaller case, please correct me if im wrong?

Thanks

PCI-X card in a PCI slot will work if you can get it into the slot. PCI-X is a little longer and some MBs have components where the PCI-X card connector is located. Performance wise you will see a drop but it will most likely work just fine.

For expansion cards the general rule is:
"If you can get it in the socket, it will work" (however it may not work at maximum sustained performance).

Same for PCI-E X1 to PCI-E X4 or X8 or PCI-E X8 to X16 etc.
And Same for PCI to PCI-X

Regards

I forgot to say:

Please check out ebay before you buy that card from amazon. You can get some excellent old skool server PCI-X dual NIC cards for less than $25 (new).
